Question: How long after I ejaculate into the tube can the sperm survive or how soon must my wife do the IUI? See, I have ED and nothing helps, but with relentless effort I am able to produce sperm even while facid. We desparate want another baby and have no insurance so we’re trying at home insemination. Timing is an issue because of work, so I’d like to provide the sample, store it properly, and let her us it in the morning (or when ever the “time” is exactly right).

Please give me some advice as soon as you can.

Hope,
I am ordering a IUI and it says that it is unwashed. What kind should i buy in order to use your procedure. Also, if i do get the unwashed IUI how should i do the at home insemination process. What do you recommend?

Thank you so much for the information!!! I was just a little confused…did you use washed sperm, or unwashed? I used unwashed this time (my first) and have had no issues at all (this should be each persons own choice if they use washed or unwashed)! I am hoping for a positive pregnancy test soon…I will let you know how it turns out!!!

You should stop by the main IVP forums and ask your questions. We actually did IVIs ourselves, but a lot of folks in the forum will have more info for you. http://www.theivp.com/forums/

Never do an IUI with fresh sperm! It must be professionally washed. If you want to use fresh, try doing an IVI with an instead cup.

Hi Shannon! Thank you so much for this. What a relief to have a thorough, empowered account of an IUI insemination. I had a question concerning air and air bubbles in the catheter and syringe. Does your husband depress the syringe all the way? Is having a small amount of air a problem?
Also, do you have any tricks for getting the whole 4 cm in? We’re getting stuck at 2.5 cm, even after jiggling a bit!
